THE CURATOR: Get involved with the big ideas of your time

After graduating from Moore College of Art and Design, Heather Bryson began working for local jewelers. Quickly establishing herself as an in-demand sculptor/jewelry artist, she founded Bella Vista’s B Square Gallery in 2000. Today, Bryson’s space is exactly what an art gallery should be — it is welcoming yet chic, and showcases artwork while allowing a sense of connection with the surroundings.

If you have a penchant for artisan-made rings, check out this month’s beautiful display, “A Full Circle of Rings” by Bryson and fellow artist Jennifer Blyth. These two talented designers both completed a series of rings that were inspired by each month. Materials and shapes vary. There are traditional circles and more abstract forms, some embellished with sea glass, others with semi-precious stones. More than ordinary jewelry, the rings are like miniature sculptures, and you can see in them the elements of the season that inspired their creation. The best part? They’re all for sale … you better not snag the one I want!

Opening reception Fri., Feb. 3, 9-9 p.m., free, through Feb. 25, B Square Gallery, 614 S. Ninth St., 215-625-0692, bsquaregallery.com.
