THE GREAT INDOORS: Our favorite design boutiques in Chestnut Hill

POSTED: Tuesday, January 17, 2012, 2:00 PM

✚ Roots, Inc.

What it is: This modern home furnishing shop has the style of a Center City boutique with the charm of a suburban shop. The seasonal rotation of beautiful pieces — covering everything from wall art and one-of-a-kind lighting to jewelry and jewel-like home accessories — makes this spot the perfect catch-all for gift shopping and guilty purchases.

What to look for:  Its array of gorgeous lighting and throw pillows is all well and good but it’s the little things that make it special. Hanging topiaries, jewelry boxes, and specially boxed candles are the perfect little indulgences. 7946 Germantown Ave., 267-385-5753, store.shoprootsinc.com, facebook.com/shoproots.
