THE SHOWDOWN: Listen closely and keep gazing, Philly

Brian Wilensky highlights the week's sure-bet live acts.

Monday: “Just standing there stomping your foot won’t get you what you want,” mom would say. “I don’t care, he’s really cute and I just want to sleep with him,” Slutever would reply if this hypothetical conversation ever happened. Their brand of girl-punk noise tells it like it is. 9 p.m., free, w/ Useless Eaters & The Tough Shits, Little Bar, 738 S. 8th St., 267-639-5233.

Tuesday: Wilmington’s grungey shoegaze, The Sky Drops sounds like there’s a chance it could reveal some sort of eye opening message that will bring new meaning to your life. Listen closely and keep gazing, Philly. 8 p.m., free, w/ The Orange Drop, Teri’s, 1126 S. 9th St., 267-761-9154.

Wednesday: Careful, don’t make any sudden movements. Bronze Float sounds so delicate it may be dangerous to get up. Not because you may distract songwriter David Brant, but because the sound of your bar stool creaking across the floor will ruin the stillness-of-a-lake-in-the-woods vibe. 8 p.m., $8, w/ Shenandoah Davis & Joshua Marcus, Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 215-291-4919.

Thursday: With a song like “Aramingo,” it’s kind of obvious where Auctioneer’s inspiration is tapped. This Fishtown appearance is in the wake of their August release, Auctioneer EP. Check their Bandcamp page for a rendition of The Boss’ “Spirit in the Night,” like you’ll hear nowhere else. 9 p.m., $10, w/ Norwegian Arms & Tutlie, Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 215-739-6984.

Friday: Yeah, females can scream. But Screaming Females rock. Singer/guitarist Marissa Paternoster has one of the more unique punk rock voices around and she brings it to a scream from time to time, too. 6:30 p.m., $10, w/ The Underground Railroad to Candyland & Dry Feet, The Barbary, 951 Frankford Ave., 215-634-7400.

Saturday: The recently exited drummer for electro-dance rock band The Indobox grew up two doors away from where I grew up. We used to play drums together. Those were simpler times. 9 p.m., $12, w/ Yamn, The Blockley, 3801 Chestnut St., 215-222-1234.

Sunday: If the sonics of a song could wear clothes, there’s a chance a tUnE-yArDs ditty would incorporate more colors than a five-year-old’s bedroom and some feathers. People like to loop their music on stage while they play these days, but few pull it off quite like Merrill Garbus. 8 p.m., $15, w/ Pat Jordache, Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden St., 215-232-2100.
