THE SHOWDOWN: Live music in Philly from June 18-23

POSTED: Monday, June 18, 2012, 3:00 PM

Wednesday: Any group made famous by musicians that helped produce such incredible artists as MGMT, the Flaming Lips, Belle & Sebastian and Mogwai is pretty much guaranteed to be noteworthy. Wintersleep, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, indeed live up to their counterparts' reputations for genuine, fluid, original-sounding indie rock. 8 p.m., $10, North Star Bar, 2639 Poplar St., northstarbar.com.
