Thursday: North Carolina folkies Phil Moore and Beth Tacular play a vibrant, homespun brand of alt-folk under their moniker Bowerbirds (pictured). Their latest album, The Clearing, has a DIY feel to it that features dual harmonies, twangy guitar, accordion and a hollow bass drum. 9:15 p.m., $12, Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 215-739-9684. ➤ With disco beats and electric guitar, the Alabama-based duo Boombox is an electro jam band that steadily grooves with simple, straightforward beats and funky bass lines. 8 p.m., $7, The Blockley, 3801 Chestnut St., 215-222-1234.
