THE SHOWDOWN: Melting faces and supporting the community

WEDNESDAY: Veteran singer-songwriter Robert Earl Keen, an unpolished country artist similar to fellow Texan Townes Van Zandt, is already considered a legend among his country-music peers. 7:30 p.m., $25, Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden St., 215-232-2100. ➤ In an age when many funk bands are taking from the retro sound of nearly a half-century ago, DeRobert and The Half Truths (pictured) are doing it well with a powerfully charismatic lead singer and timeless instrumentation. 8 p.m., $10, The North Star Bar, 2639 Poplar St., 215-787-0488. ➤ The Treehouse Coalition is a hip-hop/soul group from Philly produced by Twizzmatic. The young ensemble delivers with a no-frills, gritty style that pays homage to the earlier days of hip-hop and gangsta rap. 9 p.m., $7, The Fire,  412 W. Girard Ave., 267-671-9298.
