THE SHOWDOWN: Moody, a little dark and multi-genred

POSTED: Monday, January 16, 2012, 1:00 PM
Filed Under: Music The Showdown

Wednesday: ’70s rock is back in the form of the “Laurel Canyon sound,” made famous by artists like Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Carly Simon, and now by producer/artist Jonathan Wilson (pictured). 8 p.m., $18, World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut Street, 215-222-1400. ➤ Indie electro-pop never sounded more seasonally appropriate than Gracie’s latest Treehouse EP, which contains brooding beats, atmospheric flourishes and eerily soft vocals from Philadelphia native Brandon Balasia. 7:30 p.m., $5, with Pressed And, Bermuda Bonnie, Bananas Symphony, Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 215-291-4919.
