THE SHOWDOWN: Moody, a little dark and multi-genred

POSTED: Monday, January 16, 2012, 1:00 PM
Filed Under: Music The Showdown

Saturday: One of the better rock bands from the Philly area, Man Man (pictured) is an experimental rock ensemble similar to Tom Waits, but bigger sounding. 8:30 p.m., $15-$17, Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden St., 215-232-2100. ➤ Folk-blues is done right by local artist Reverend T.J. McGlinchey, who is funky and waltzy like a modern-day Dr. John. 8 p.m., Dawson Street Pub, 100 Dawson St., 215-482-567. ➤ Canadian rockers based out of Toronto, Wildlife is a post-punk, similar-to-Modest-Mouse band that puts on larger-than-life performances. 7:30 p.m., $8-$10, Kung fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 215-291-4919.
