THE SHOWDOWN: Wearing nothing but synths, face paint and spandex

Wednesday: Indie folk-rock, boy-girl English duo Slow Club (pictured) had a sound and image comparable to fellow indie-rockers Matt and Kim. With the release of their sophomore LP Paradise in late 2011, the duo got a little bit more mature and serious. 9 p.m., $10, Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 215-739-9684. ➤ Nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter Our Griffins (aka DJ Brown, from the Lehigh Valley) is a music artist wise beyond his years. Case in point: Conversations, a debut EP that features Brown’s soft voice, subtle songwriting and complementary ambient instrumentation. 8 p.m., $6, World Café Live, 3025 Walnut St., 215-222-1400.
