THE SHOWDOWN: Wearing nothing but synths, face paint and spandex

POSTED: Monday, February 13, 2012, 2:00 PM
Filed Under: Music The Showdown

Thursday: On their latest album, Mountaintops, the married, San Francisco-based duo Mates of State (pictured) fall into the category of indie-pop bordering on synth. 8:30 p.m., $15, Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden St., 215-232-2100. ➤ Skytree (aka Evan Snyder) is interestingly out in left field mixing dubstep with shamanic electronica. His latest album, Crystal Consciousness, is a mystical journey that takes you through a Japanese rainforest via nature sound effects and unconventional sampling over top a dubstep beat. Little Bar, 736 S. Eighth St., 267-639-5233.
