THE SHOWDOWN: Wearing nothing but synths, face paint and spandex

Friday: Big Gigantic is a duo made up of a drummer and saxophonist who certainly live up to their moniker. Their newest LP release, Nocturnal, is full and lush party electronica. It makes sense why they’re so popular at festivals. 8 p.m., $17.50, Electric Factory 421 N. Seventh St., 215-627-1332. ➤ Another Celtic-punk band? Flatfoot 56 is a Chicago-based punk rock group that can hold their own with old-country brethren Flogging Molly and Drop Kick Murphys. 7 p.m., 18, The Trocadero, 1003 Arch St., 215-922-6888. ➤ Nika Roza (aka Zola Jesus) (pictured) is a philosophical 22-year-old with a passion for opera and a dark side that is present on her latest album, Conatus, which contains ghostly vocal effects and industrial tones. 8:30 p.m., $13, Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden St., 215-232-2100.
