Now in its second year, the two-day Dream Big Literary Arts Festival aims to get kids excited about words. Poetry workshops in the morning set the stage for an afternoon that includes a freestyle competition and poetry slam. Keep an eye out for Black Thought from The Roots, who will be on hand to judge the poetry slam.

Fri.-Mon., Feb. 17-21, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., The New West Philly HS, 49th & Chestnut streets, dreambigfestival.org.
