Tuesday: Philly guitar legend Mike Polizze of Birds of Maya now plays in Purling Hiss, a gritty, lo-psychedeliclic/experimental rock 'n' roll band. They're good friends of Kurt Vile and the Violators and have even gotten their own share of acclaim — Pitchfork granted their last EP a 7.5 rating. Former Showdown scribe Brian Wilensky also profiles them here fore Jump magazine. 8 p.m., $10, Johnny Brenda's, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., johnnybrendas.com.
