Re-capping True Blood each and every Monday.
The Stackhouse kids can't catch a break.
Just back from battling the fanatical religious group, now there's the deviant divine to take on. But first, Sookie has yet another sexy dream about Eric, which she nervously awakens from as she, Jason and Bill arrive in Bon Temps. Things look off-kilter in the Stackhouses' hometown. Suspicion grows when their car hits two people, who stumble away with black eyes, bleeding and laughing.
Phased, the trio retreats to Bill's home, finding Hoyt and Jessica restraining the uber-possessed Mrs. Fortenberry, who, they explain, has gone the way of the rest of the town ' blackened eyes and looking to capture Sam Merlotte for a sacrifice. Jason vows to go save Sam at Merlotte's and Sookie and Bill run off to Gran's when Hoyt reveals that that's where Maryann has been squatting.
Meanwhile, Lafayette and Tara's mother, Lettie Mae, have tied up the possessed girl in an attempt to rid her of her demons. No prayers or slaps are working, so Lafayette calls up Sookie, who is now in Gran's house looking at the branches and dirt around the house. What she doesn't know is that decorations, including a large totem in the front yard that's covered in raw meat, are a tribute to 'The God Who Comes,'
Lafayette warns Sookie to get out of the house, but Maryann suddenly appears and stops her. Bill attacks the mistress of mischief, attempting to suck her blood, but instead ingests a black liquid, which causes him to convulse. Sookie goes after her, only to be pushed up against the wall by Maryann. Upon Maryann's touch, Sookie recognizes her as the monster that attacked her in the woods. A ball of light comes forth from Sookie's hand startling Maryann away and bringing with it a new power for Rogue ' I mean Sookie.
Over at Merlotte's, the mob manages to trap Sam and Andy (de-badged sheriff and now resident town drunk, the only still-sane person Sam found to turn to) in Merlotte's storage freezer. Jason shows up with a chainsaw and a staple gun. While the chainsaw fails to freak-out the frenzy, the threat of staples in Arlene Fowler's head manages to clear mob-leader Terry Bellefleur's mind for a moment and he gets the group to exit the bar, but not for long. After Jason frees Sam and Andy from the fridge, the mob returns and Sam lets them take him.
Undaunted, the 'mighty' Jason poses as 'The God Who Comes' with help from some flares and horns made of branches. When Jason 'smites' Sam, the shape shifter appears to 'disappear' (morphing into a fly). The gullible mob rushes off to Maryann's to claim victory. Left behind, the clueless and concerned Andy and Jason don't get much time to fret, as Sam reappears wearing nothing but an assless apron, claiming that he'll 'explain later.'
Back at Lafayette's, Sookie and Bill tag team to pull Tara out of her trance. The chant Tara spoke while possessed sparks a memory for Bill. He claims he knows only one person with the power to take on Maryann ' the vampire Queen. The episode ends with Bill's arrival at the Queen's palace and a final shot of blood trickling down a shapely pale foot.
Another excellent episode, and I really liked the teamwork we saw. The scenes with Jason were beyond brilliant again. Full review of the episode on my blog.
