DESIGN PHILADELPHIA: Citywide Storefront Challenge winners announced

POSTED: Thursday, October 14, 2010, 4:48 PM
Earth Bread + Brewery before & after. They didn't win anything.
In our issue last week I wrote about Design Philadelphia's Citywide Storefront Challenge. Hosted by the City of Philadelphia Commerce Department and the Community Design Collaborative, the friendly contest sought to highlight local business owners who recently made high quality improvements to their storefronts. Fifty-seven establishments entered the contest, but only nine will snag an award. Today at 4 p.m. at the Philadelphia Center for Architecture (1218 Arch St.), Mayor Nutter will attend a ceremony to formally introduce the champs, but we've already got word about who they are. Check the complete list of winners after this newly-renovated jump. Bang for the Buck Award Hakim's Bookstore Honor the Past Award La Pearl Beauty Emporium Unique Sign Award The Grey Lodge Pub Unique Sign Honorable Mention Imperial Chinese Night and Day Award Food and Friends Night and Day Award PA Realty Works, LLC Night and Day Honorable Mention HACE Business and Visitor's Center Complete Package Award The Philadelphia Suzuki Piano Academy The Instigator Award Mount Airy USA
