ICE CUBE: Breaking news - Robert De Niro eats

No sooner had I dropped a note of sorrow in Thursday's Ice online because my hero Robert De Niro had not been spotted out-or-about anywhere but his appointed rounds on the Dark Fields set — including shooting at Union Trust — the clouds opened and there was plenty of Bobby D on view.

Along with spotting the Oscar-winning thesp during the 16th and Market transformation into an NYC thoroughfare, and several astute sightings from friends in City Hall (you should be a working, but thanks), De Niro's weekend was a Philly eat-a-thon. De Niro and his missus Grace Hightower stopped by Butcher & Singer with owner Stephen Starr by their side but for a sec. (Did they talk about owning Japanese restaurants in Manhattan or opening joints in Dubai?) The next day, DeNiro and Hightower were spied heading into Lacroix at the Rittenhouse. Ah, brunch. While local photog Hughe Dillon managed to slip a shot of a near-City Hall De Niro-sighting into last night's Philly.com Insider slot, I'm heading to DelFrisco's tonight where Bob should be shooting. Nobody say anything stupid from Taxi Driver this week. You can use Cape Fear stuff instead.

UPDATE: According to Meal Ticket's Drew Lazor, De Niro and Hightower munched on a tomato and Roquefort salad, an 8-ounce filet and Baked Alaska for dessert.

Thank you for my mention. AD you should go to his trailer, he eats between 2PM & 3PM. Maybe you can get an interview, or at least put a few questions onto a slip of paper and maybe he would answer them. He's been really great to the fans signing everything too.
