don't just sit there.
A month ago we met with Live Arts honcho Nick Stuccio, who informed us that, unlike last year's Oedipus @ FDR (with limited seating due to its bizarre location) and Wandering Alice (with rapidly disappearing tickets due to how magical Nichole Canuso is), 2009's concurrent fests aren't likely to sell out in the first five minutes. The spaces are bigger, the performances are more plentiful. Essentially, Stuccio wants as many Philadelphians to attend as many shows as our little hearts allow us.

But that doesn't mean you should wait too long to visit the Festival Hub ' we expect that the majority of Live Arts shows, especially the ones with short runs like Dean & Britta's one-night-only Fest finale ' will fill up quickly.

I took a Facebook quiz last week informing me that, of all the Live Arts performances out there, I am Pig Iron Theatre Co.'s Welcome to Yuba City ("You often stand out due to your unique and quirky personality. Your sense of humor is comical and you love all things that relish ...in the absurdity of life. Amazingly you tend to find the best stuff in odd places and Welcome to Yuba City will be no exception to that list," it said, bolstering my art-viewing ego). So where do I sign up?

The Live Arts/Fringe box office is open Aug. 24-Sept. 3, 1-7 p.m., as well as throughout the festivals (Sept. 4-19), Fifth and Fairmount streets (southwest corner), 215-413-1318, livearts-fringe.org.

Another show with a short run is the Fringe Fest's The Gonzales Cantata (a choral work about former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalse), which is only playing Labor Day weekend. http://www.gonzalescantata.com for info!
