THE SHOWDOWN: A beast from beyond the grave (Jersey)

Monday: Birds of Maya are going to kick Monday's sorry ass tonight with their abrasive rock 'n' roll. Like so many great bands today, they're mixing in a heavy dose of sexy fuzz on the vocals, but they never lose the guitar riffs to the word of feedback. Expect to be crashing off the walls as well as other bodies. With Willie Lane and Mount Carmel, 8 p.m., $5, Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 215-291-4919. Tuesday: Pocahaunted make a musical world that you just want to be inside of. Go back to KFN tonight to be a part of the girls' surreal drone. You'll notice that one of the face paint-wearing ladies is Bethany Cosentino, who you already know from Best Coast. This is her taking a step away from surf rock, and two steps toward psychedelic. With Dark Circles, US Girls, and Ether Island, 8 p.m., Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 215-291-4919. Wednesday: Dude, it's Jimmy "Wheels" Brooks from DeGrassi, the Canadian teen melodrama TV show. Now he's a rapper, resting safely under Lil' Wayne's wing. You know he tickled your heart strings with his jam "Best I Ever Had." Show the man some love. With Francis and the Lights, 8 p.m., $45, TLA, 334 South St., 215-922-1011. Thursday: Holy shit, punk legends D.O.A. are in Philly tonight! These Brits are one of the originals in the punk scene, and they've been going for 32 years now. But you don't need a lesson from me, see them live and get schooled on all the favorite poli-punk topics: war, anarchism, racism and power-hungry cops. With F.O.D., Women and The Prisoners, 9 p.m., $12, The M Room, 15 W. Girard Ave., 215-739-5577. Friday: Conjoined twins girls, both named Evelyn, who are really Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls and Jason Webley? And they come with a fake biography? Oh, and they play circus-y, gypsy folk? Um, sold. It's the fun little freak show of Evelyn and Evelyn. And like everyone and their mother, they do a cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." Unlike anyone else, it's funny because they're supposed to be joined at the hip. At 9 p.m., $25, TLA, 334 South St., 215-922-1011. Saturday: The wee man who went down in one punch on that viral video, Glenn Danzig, will be in town tonight. Don't be fooled by the way he was so easily defeated, the man is a beast from beyond the grave (Jersey), here to swoon and scare us with his horror pop love songs. Yes, Danzig, we wanna bang heads with you, 'til we're bleeding. With Gorgeous Frankenstein and Seventh Void, 7:30 p.m., $28, The Troc, 1003 Arch St., 215-922-5483. Sunday: By name, the Falcon Lords sound like someone that should've been on Danzig's tour. But in reality, they're nerdy indie rock-and-goofy hip hop-ers. They rely on the Falcon persona for song content, like MF Doom, with his metal face and cartoon obsession. The birds are dance-worthy, with a good energy and lyrics that are direct and simple. With Fisher Meehan, 8 p.m., $8, The Khyber, 56 S. 2nd St., 215-238-5888.
