THE SHOWDOWN: Good music is good music, right Mr. Smooth?

A concert a day keeps the doctor away.
Tuesday: If you dig that that little collaboration between Diplo and Switch known as Major Lazer, then you might want to check out one of the guys' influences: Barrington Levy, one of the foremost reggae performers since his emergence on the dancehall scene in the '80s. He'll perform with backing band, HomeGrown, hailing from Bermuda. w/ Spokey Speaky, 8 p.m., $23-37, World Café Live, 3025 Walnut St., 215-222-1400. Wednesday: The one thing better than jazz music and parks is when you put the two things together. And then make the affair free. Interested? Local jazz vocalist Joanna Pascale just so happens to be playing a free show this very week in Pastorius Park, over in Chesnut Hill. 7:30, Free, Pastorius Park, Abington Ave. and Lincoln Dr., 215-248-8810. Thursday: It's a good week to catch some fun-loving hip hop from the Windy City. You've can see Chicago's Kid Sister, of "Pro Nails" fame, Friday at Johnny Brenda's, and enroll in Uristocrat's Summer School to hang out with star student headliners, Kidz in the Hall (from Chi-town and Jersey, to be exact). We don't care if they're "hipster rap" or throwback or whatever other subgenre, good music is good music, right Mr. Smooth? Fun Fact: the hip-hop duo's members, Naledge and Double-O met in 2000 at Penn. Welcome back to Philly, guys! w/ Dephonic, Stalley, Writtenhouse & Akilles, 8 p.m., $20, TLA, 334 South St., 215-922-1011
Friday: It always feels good to support local music, and the Philadelphia Songwriters Project is pretty good at it. That's why we thought it worth highlighting their songwriters showcase: You can see the four winners of this year's songwriting contest and a handful of other performers at another lovely park concert, this time at Rose Tree Park out in Media, PA. w/ Tania Alexandra, Johnny Miles, Ryan Tennis & Fleeting Ends, 7 p.m., Free, Rose Tree Park, 1671 N. Providence Rd., 610-566-2730 Saturday: If you're in the mood for some all-female rock power, Led Zeppelin cover band Lez Zeppelin will play their by-the-book interpretations of the legendary '70s hard-rock band. And that's no easy feat, given Page's blues-guitar prowess and Plant's unmistakable howl. 8 p.m., $25, Sellersville Theater, 24 W. Temple Ave., 215-257-5808 Sunday: Calling all Idol fanatics: Time to get your pop music on. Swing back over to the TLA once more to catch the Arizona-bred, Season 6 winner of that seemingly never-ending singing show. Jordin Sparks will stop through in support of her latest album, Battlefield. 7 p.m., $20, TLA, 334 South St., 215-922-1011

How can I not like this song? I mean, it samples "Good Googly Moogly." Best song ever? I think so.
