Every Monday, the Showdown tells you who to see and where to see ‘em.
Monday: Currently on tour in support of his autumn release Sebastien Grainger & the Mountains, one half of the now-defunct DFA1979, Sebastien Grainger, is bringing his new act to Johnny Brenda's. (Check out the Q&A with him we posted earlier today.) Start off the week with the newest Saddle Creeker's sultry set of rock and roll. With Josh Reichmann & Rad Racket. Doors at 8 p.m., tickets are $10.
Tuesday: Hardcore punk icons Suicidal Tendencies, mostly recently featured on Guitar Hero II, hit the road again. The Left Coast legends have once emerged once more from a performance hiatus. Let's hope they play "Institutionalized." At The Troc with Madball, Whole Wheat Bread & Moxely. Doors at 7 p.m., tickets are $17-20.
Wednesday: Hey, it's indie rock shipped straight from Atlanta, Georgia! The Modern Society at The Khyber with the London Victory Club & Ja'c. Doors at 8 p.m., tickets are $8.
Thursday: We Are Free's four-piece Yeasayer returns to Philly with fellow Brooklynites Chairlift, who are in that one iPod ad. At First Unitarian Church. Doors at 8:30 p.m., tickets are $13.
Friday: Let's not kid ourselves — we're all still head over heels for the Kinsella brothers. Frontman of the beloved Cap'n Jazz, Joan of Arc and the quintessential American Football, Mike Kinsella graces FUC's chapel as Owen. With Caithlin De Marrais & El May. Doors at 7 p.m. & 9 p.m., but both shows are sold out. Tickets were $13, so consider yourself lucky if you got one. (Craiggers!)
Saturday: Sounding a bit like Neutral Milk Hotel with better vocals and Sufjan with less bells and chimes, Philly natives National Eye are lo-fi and highly recommended. Catch their set at The Fire. With the Armchairs, Toy Soldiers & Tongue Sculptors. Doors at 6 p.m., tickets are $7.
Sunday: SHUT UP AND LET ME GO! The Ting Tings are back in town (again). iPod commercial (second one this week!) Brit-rock sensation co-headline the TLA with Scott Weiland & the Airborne Toxic Event. Doors are at 8 p.m., tickets are $10.45.
