Local filmmakers Tony Trov and John Zito are about to wrap up post-production on their locally shot, Kickstarter-funded horror flick Alpha Girls, which follows, as the duo describes on their Facebook page, "a bunch of sorority girls performing demonic rituals in the nude covered in blood."

To drum up hype, South Philly seven-piece rock 'n' roll outfit Southwork recently recorded the film's soundtrack at Eastern State Penitentiary. Here's a vid of the first song, "Love Her 'til the End." I'm digging those colorful outfits!

Got into my first — and last, since the director, actors and crew pretty much wrapped up shooting over the weekend — bit of trouble during a Friday night stroll by The Silver Linings Playbook set. As I was walking across Chestnut at Eighth across from the Ben Franklin Hotel (they were camped in the parking lot on Eighth for days), a pair of signs had been erected for a “Pairs Open Freestyle Dance Competition,” a set piece upon which Bradley Cooper would later film with Jennifer Lawrence in the wee early hours of Saturday morning.

No sooner had I raised my camera to snap the banners than a crew member shouted me down. No worries. I got a decent shot. Yet I wanted Icepack’s usual photographer, Scott Weiner, to get some snaps. He did just that last night, along with a few photos along Sansom Street’s Jewelers’ Row, where it’s Christmas every day. (Geez, could the crew not have bothered to take the banners and the lights down? Lazy bastards.)

Anyway, the cast and the crew did a wrap party at Stephen Starr’s un-used Tangerine space on Market Street, and all is right with the world.

Friend of Critical Mass Nik Kukushkin was kind enough to send us his photos of the Dark Fields set. You don't learn much — other than the fact that Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro are in the movie — but worse comes to worse, you can just stare longingly at B. Coop (and marvel at how short Bobby D. is!). RELATED >> ICE CUBE: Breaking news - Robert De Niro eats

We know Bob De Niro's got another day on Dark Fields' set and that the whole she-bang should be finished filming in Philly by the end of May. We'll be sorry to see y'all Dark Fielders go but we need you guys to be more careful while you're here. Not only did we hear that De Niro busted some DelFrisco's glassware by accident during that shoot I mentioned on Monday. But days before that there was a minor unplanned auto accident not in the script when a cab swiped a minivan — both with New York state license plates — and knocked its mirror into pieces during a scene where Bradley Cooper vomits onto the street. Hey, I don't come to your house and puke in your garden, do I sport? (Thanks Ryan M for the info.) Now get out of town before you make more of a mess.

Use these cliches Not these

No sooner had I dropped a note of sorrow in Thursday's Ice online because my hero Robert De Niro had not been spotted out-or-about anywhere but his appointed rounds on the Dark Fields set — including shooting at Union Trust — the clouds opened and there was plenty of Bobby D on view.

Along with spotting the Oscar-winning thesp during the 16th and Market transformation into an NYC thoroughfare, and several astute sightings from friends in City Hall (you should be a working, but thanks), De Niro's weekend was a Philly eat-a-thon. De Niro and his missus Grace Hightower stopped by Butcher & Singer with owner Stephen Starr by their side but for a sec. (Did they talk about owning Japanese restaurants in Manhattan or opening joints in Dubai?) The next day, DeNiro and Hightower were spied heading into Lacroix at the Rittenhouse. Ah, brunch. While local photog Hughe Dillon managed to slip a shot of a near-City Hall De Niro-sighting into last night's Philly.com Insider slot, I'm heading to DelFrisco's tonight where Bob should be shooting. Nobody say anything stupid from Taxi Driver this week. You can use Cape Fear stuff instead.

UPDATE: According to Meal Ticket's Drew Lazor, De Niro and Hightower munched on a tomato and Roquefort salad, an 8-ounce filet and Baked Alaska for dessert.

Thank you for my mention. AD you should go to his trailer, he eats between 2PM & 3PM. Maybe you can get an interview, or at least put a few questions onto a slip of paper and maybe he would answer them. He's been really great to the fans signing everything too.

Our Twitter is blowing up with sightings of the film crew for Dark Fields, the new thriller starring Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Bright Star's Abbie Cornish and Land of the Lost's Anna Friel and directed by Neil Burger. The film is about a writer who take "Viagra for the brain" to make him smarter, only to hit a roadblock. So, who is down for some stalking? On Location Vacations (a.k.a. @olv) said:
OLV released that Tweet after they reported what Marathon Grill (@EatMarathon) later confirmed:
But the Greater Philadelphia Film Office (@GPFO), clearly, has the scoop on where they'll be later in the month:
Friend of Crit Mass Dan McQuade also reports that trolley stops on 19th street have NYC subway signs up, which makes sense considering the 2000 blocks of Delancey and Spruce are the usual NYC stand-ins. Team Meal Ticket has the scoop on where Cornish is dining out. I think Michael Klein scooped them all when he wrote about all those upcoming sightings last week in his column in the Inquirer. I wish the GPFO really would release the upcoming film sites, like the film office in NYC does.

Faint rumbles pierced the quiet, slowly growing louder as the train approached. 'This is what we want,' said a voice in a thick Indian accent. 'Stand by, and'action.' From my perch on the rickety old stairs of El Bar's ancient third floor, I watched as the El flashed past the windows of the room and cameras began rolling.

Fishtown's El Bar transformed from lovable dive to film set yesterday as Yash Raj Productions and its American subsidiary Ring of Fire Productions shot scenes for an upcoming Bollywood movie, Right Hand Man. According to El Bar owner Robin Schimpf, the film centers around a man coming to a poor neighborhood in America, growing successful and moving out, and finally realizing that he was happier in the poor neighborhood all along.

Director Parmeet Sethi, a film and TV actor in India, makes his directorial debut with this film starring Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. I caught a glimpse of both. After the suave Kapoor swept by in a leather jacket, the Production Coordinator, who wouldn't give his name, said that Kapoor is 'quite big' in India and is experiencing a quieter time in the States. 'No, people are not mobbing us,' he said. 'But Indians still recognize him.' I also saw the pretty, smiling Sharma relaxing by the pool table briefly before the next take. As soon as I caught her eye, though, Sharma pulled an amazingly successful vanishing act. The five actors present kept pretty much to themselves, though the crew seemed willing to mingle a bit. Dinesh Kanojja, part of the camera crew, said the group has been shooting at several locations around Philadelphia in the last few weeks. For most of the crew, it was their first time here.

When searching for locations, the crew weren't looking to shoot in the first floor bar, with its eyeball lights and skateboard lamps, all bathed in a eerie red glow. Instead, they've set up shop above the bar, where they could achieve the perfect setting: a ratty old apartment with a good view of the El. 'We were a compromise,' Schimpf says, laughing. 'We had a view of the El, but we weren't wide enough'but nothing in Philly is! They said they were looking for a poor apartment, not a squat house.'

They showed up to build the set ' livening up the old room with colorful tapestries and a bright red couch, though still emphasizing the run-down atmosphere ' on Monday and were ready to shoot the next day.

Unfortunately, there was no dancing or singing for the scene I watched. Kapoor mostly sat pensively while the train roared by. No one would say what the scene was about. The close-lipped cast and crew, who said they couldn't talk about the film due to 'company policy,' kept the film shoot under the radar ' even for Fishtowners having a drink at El Bar. 'They don't like PR,' explained Schimpf. 'The Indian community is very tight, and they think they'd be overwhelmed.'

Even the Americans kept things close to the chest. 'You havin' fun? Can you at least say that?' I asked them. 'No, we can't even say that,' one replied. Go figure.

Bar-goers were content to continue relaxing quietly with a drink or two, shooting a few games of pool, Bollywood's arrival barely causing a ripple in their routine. Many remained in the dark about the details, and one man even asked if it was an independent film. Hearing of the Bollywood connection, he said, 'Oh, really? Cool. We'll probably catch that one.'

Bartender Victor Perez just kept doing his thing, unruffled. 'The girls were hot. But they seemed too snooty,' he laughed. 'It's all that Bollywood going to their heads.'

thanks for this, all us fans are so curious to hear about Shahid Kapoor's film and the production company wouldn't tell a thing. So, any article remotely related to Shahid and the film is so so welcome :)
