Win
Wanna go see Death Cab and Frightened Rabbit next Friday? Of course you do. Well, the good people at the Mann have given me a pair to give away. And these ain't lawn seats.
Okay, here's what you need to do:
Draw a picture of a really scared looking bunny or some sort of menacing looking taxi cab (or both, whatevs) and send it to pat@citypaper.net with the subject GIVE ME DEATH CAB/FRIGHTENED RABBIT TICKETS.
We'll select our favorite at the end of the day on Thursday. Submit as many times as you like. Don't worry if you can't draw very well. Just have fun with it. Make us laugh. Maybe nobody else will enter this contest but you, so like if you send any old MS Paint sketch you'll totally win.
Death Cab plays with Frightened Rabbit Fri., Aug. 5 at the Mann. More info here.
Australian funny man Tim Minchin has his black nail polish-clad hands in a lot of pots. He's a comedian, he's acted in serious stage productions like Amadeus, Hamlet and Jesus Christ Superstar and he's an accomplished musician, with six albums under his studded belt. This week he's appearing at TLA for a show that combines his music and comedic talents — singing jokes while tickling away at a piano. He's offensive, he might be a little cuckoo and we totally think you should check him out. The first three people to email me at josh.middleton@citypaper.net with the subject line "dude kinda looks like a lady" will receive a pair of tickets. Show details are below:
Fri., July 22, 8 p.m., $31.50, TLA, 334 South St., 215-922-1011, livenation.com.
UPDATE: We have winners! Congrats to Diane, Lori and Melanie. The rest of you have to buy tickets!
Minnesotta electro-pop group Owl City is coming to The Mann Center (5201 Parkside Ave.) Saturday to promote their latest album, All Things Bright and Beautiful. Want tickets?
I'll give a pair to the first three people to email me with the subject line, "Hoot!"
I'll update the post as winners start rolling in. Let's do this!
First person to email pat@citypaper.net with the subject GIMME BRIGHT EYES TICKETS will win two box seats for tomorrow night's gig at the Mann. GO!
UPDATE: Congratulations to our winner, Sarah!
More info on the show here.
First person to email pat@citypaper.net with the subject "I WANT SCRIPT TICKETS" gets a pair of orchestra box seats for Friday night's show at the Mann. I'll update this when the tix are gone.
UPDATE: We have a winner! Congrats to Lindsay!
Prolific singer/songwriter Willie Nelson is rolling into Philadelphia tomorrow night to headline his national Country Throwdown tour, starring newcomers like Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser and Jack Ingram. The show takes place at the Mann Center at 3:30 p.m., and we have first-come-first-serve tickets available to whoever sends an email HERE with the phrase "Smoke one, Willie!"
Ready, set, Willie Nelson!
Fittingly, the two-day Lebowski Fest kicks off on June 3 with a screening of The Big Lebowski at TLA, and we have two pairs of tickets for you and your bestest dude or dudette. Here's how to snag them:
Send your best Lebowski-themed haiku HERE by Tue., May 31, with "Lewbowski Haiku" in the subject line. At that point, we'll choose the two that make us laugh the hardest. Easy, breezy, achieve!
Party deets: Fri., June 3, 8 p.m., $15-$18, TLA, 334 South St., 215-922-1011, lebowskifest.com.
