Au Revoir, Society Hill Hotel

Standing tall on the corner of Third and Chestnut streets for more than a decade, Society Hill Hotel has shut its doors to the public. Last weekend was the final go at being one of the oldest standby bars in otherwise rowdy Old City Philadelphia. The only detail on the abrupt closing is that it was a long time coming: according to The Insider, the license had expired back in October of last year. What's next for this location?

they have a sign up saying "closed for renovations - opening spring 2011"

any chance there's truth to that?

I saw that, Carolyn. It's hard to say. I guess we'll find out shortly. After all, it was practically spring today.
