Bad news/Good news
Which do you want first?
Bad news/Good news
So, the first bit of good news is that we all woke up today, despite some early near-apocalyptic wind and rain that may have given us a moment's doubt. The bad news is that Eater NY brought this NYT item from yesterday to our attention: official report now is that Hurricane Sandy cost 30,000 people their jobs in November in New York City alone, and 8,500 of those jobs were in the hospitality industry. (And keep in mind that those figures don't include hard-hit New Jersey or any other area.)
If you need something to perk you back up a bit after reading that report, StarChefs has a nice love letter up to our city. They're in town checking out our restaurant scene for upcoming awards consideration, but this Letter from the Editor is a nice overview of why they're impressed. Browse around their site a little more for features like this one on making burrata with Nick Elmi.
