A movie about butter sculpture coming to theaters this fall

Attendees of state fairs and the Pennsylvania Farm Show know all about the curious thing that is butter sculpture. Pounds of sweet butter are lovingly molded into life-like displays for the viewing please of fair goers, with animal and creepy children being a common theme in this bizarre craft. The peroid between 1890 and 1930 was when butter sculpture really took off due to the widespread availability of refrigeration.

It appears that butter sculpture is making a comeback via the big screen. Butter, due for an October release, tells the story of a lauded Iowa butter-carver played by Modern Family's Ty Burrell. The ensemble cast includes Jennifer Garner, High Jackman, Olivia Wilde, Ashley Greene, and Alicia Silverstone. Get ready for some serious butter sculpture competition as well as some pretty ridiculously put-on midwestern accents.
