Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 4:00 PM

Today on Afternoon Snacks, we wrap up Oktoberfest and celebrate all things cheese.

Even with all the celebrating Philly's been doing, we can think of a few reasons people may be clamoring for still more Oktoberfest. Like maybe you’ve been on bed rest for the past week and a half, for instance, or you’ve been vacationing in a dry county, or perhaps you’re just a devoted binge drinker. Well, take heart: Oktoberfest doesn’t officially wrap up until Sunday, and the revelry is even spreading to mall parking lots now. King of Prussia’s closing out Oktoberfest with this weekend’s BeerFest Royale, a two-day festival full of live music, food, and beer. At least 35 breweries will be represented, split into two tents: one for German brews, the other for regional crafts. KoP restaurants will also be manning stations offering smaller, discounted versions of the highlights off their regular menus. You can buy tickets—which are $45 for most and $15 for designated drivers, with a pricier preview option for early birds and Rich Uncle Pennybagses, and a group discount for the rest of us—right over here.

Chef Kristian Leuzzi is teaming up with DiBruno Bros.’ Emiglio Minucci for a special dinner that’s all about cheese at his eponymous Kris. (1100 Federal St.) The dinner’s slated for 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 11th, and costs $62 per person for a four-course meal with wine pairings. Each course highlights one or two cheeses, and we’ve got the full annotated menu right here:
