Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Tuesday, November 27, 2012, 4:14 PM

Anniversary beer brunch, a taplist to help shelter pups, a haunting look back at Halloween at Cook, and ASB mixing it up with the neighbors over outdoor seating, all on today's Afternoon Snacks.

On Fri. Dec. 14, Sly Fox is celebrating their 17th anniversary—but if you'll be joining them for the brunch kicking off the party, you might want to start saving room now. Four courses. Six beers. For a weekday brunch. They're pairing up with chef George Bieber for the meal, though, so we think it'll be worth it to nap your way through to a late, light dinner if you have to. (You may know Bieber from Shorty's Sunflower Cafe in Pottstown or its mobile extension, the Sunflower Truck Stop; if you don't, you should!) See the work-in-progress menu below, and then head here to buy tickets at $45 apiece if you want in.

Philly Tap Finder's blog has the details on a great fundraiser that warrants a visit to Media. Hit Pinocchio's (131 E. Baltimore Ave., Media) tomorrow, Wed., Nov. 28 from 7 p.m. to midnight, and choose from one of twelve animal-themed beers they've rounded up. 10% of the night's proceeds go to the very worthy Delco SPCA. (Speaking of, anyone else who remembers last year's story of Curious George and Georgette but lost track of it, you might want to check out their Facebook page. Warning: you're definitely going to happy-cry.) You can see the tap list here.

Halloween may be long over, but you can be terrified all over again by this recap from Drew Lazor of the offal- and Juggalo-heavy festivities at Cook.

Via Naked Philly, the proposed outdoor seating at ASB looks very promising, but it wouldn't be South Philly without at least one entertaining night of bickering amongst the neighbors over whether or not tables and chairs can be placed in an empty lot previously used to house loose garbage.
