Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 4:11 PM

On today's Afternoon Snacks: Seasonal cupcakes, an extensive game tasting in the burbs, and pizza class back in session in East Falls.

So, um, if you’re going to eat a cupcake, you might want to make it this one from the Sweet Box truck. They sold out of these gorgeous little guys in short order today, but promise they’ll have more on board tomorrow at Love Park.

For those out in the suburbs, there are still seats available for tomorrow night’s wild game dinner at Trattoria Totaro (639 Spring Mill Ave., Conshohocken). At just $55 a head, the menu is awfully all-encompassing, finding a way to give you tastes of buffalo, quail, elk, wild boar, and rabbit—in some cases, more than once. And though the spot is usually BYOB, this special dinner even includes beer pairings from Victory.

First Course
Buffalo Chili

Second Course
Grilled semi-boneless quail
arugula, baked apples, purple onion, grape tomatoes, strawberry kiwi vinaigrette

Pasta Course
Elk stroganoff
house made pepperdelle pasta

Main Course (A sampling of each):

Grilled Wild Boar Rack
Sliced from a rack of rib and served with a blueberry peppercorn sauce

Wild River Salmon
Thyme buerre blanc

Rabbit Civet of Hare Lyonaisse
Red wine, brandy, thyme, parsley and chestnuts

Roasted Boar Shoulder
Cranberry pear sauce

Elk Val d’Asta
Topped with spinach, prosciutto and mozzarella cheese in a mushroom marsala wine sauce

All served with ratatouille

Family Style Dessert Sampler

Finally, did you know that East Falls’ In Riva (4116 Ridge Ave.) has pizza classes? If not: In Riva has pizza classes! What’s more, there’s one on Monday, Nov. 12, and some last-minute spots just opened up. You can call 215-438-4848 to get more info and sign yourself up, but by way of sketching it out for you: some hands-on instruction in Neapolitan piecraft are followed up with a 4-course dinner for $85.
