Afternoon Snacks

On today's Afternoon Snacks, we've got spicy new menu additions, a breath of fresh air and holiday warmth at 10Arts, and a must-view NYC pastry tour (with recipes!).

Starting today, honeygrow (110 S. 16th St.) has a few new dishes on their menu. Look forward to Thai-inspired coconut curry stirfry (shown above with tofu and gluten-free rice noodles), lemon miso tahini stirfry with edamame, chicken, and shiitakes, and 5-spice stirfry with pork and a bounty of veggies over egg noodles. (As with the rest of the menu, there’s plenty of room for customization with these new dishes.)

So this is really nice: at 10Arts (10 Avenue of the Arts) you can roast chestnuts over an open fire on their veranda. That’s it. We love this idea for its simplicity. It’s $6 per dozen chestnuts, and you can join in from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight and tomorrow.

Via Skirt Steak author/pastry hound Charlotte Druckman and The New Potato, a fantastic hands-on look at a few favorite NYC desserts. This Pastry Crawl includes recipes and tons of high-quality photos to help you recreate phenomenal sweets from Otto, Puddin’, and Dovetail.
