Afternoon Snacks

On today's Afternoon Snacks: Lenten Friday fare, decidedly non-Lenten Friday fare, and one reason not to overdo it this weekend.

We may not be observing Lent, but we'll happily partake of all the Friday fish fry stuff anyway. Like this sandwich that Jake's (122 S. 12th St.) will be serving up every Friday, with fried flounder, spicy sauce, baby spinach, roasted red peppers and creole seasoning.

If, like us, you're abstaining from restrictions, Fridays at the Street Food Philly truck apparently now mean pig wings. (And hey, they even tweeted the answer to the inevitable question of "...huh?": "they are a meaty braised little pork shank that is fried to order and tossed in a sauce each week served with a dip and veggies.")

And not to skip over the weekend entirely, but make sure you leave something in the tank for Monday, when the Khyber (56 S. 2nd St.) is putting on this amazing taplist for this year's HopScotch. Hopslam, Skull Splitter, Daisy Cutter, and something we're unfamiliar with but that is called Scotty Karate so, we mean, come on.
