Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Monday, February 18, 2013, 3:07 PM

Prolong your Chinese New Year celebrations and catch up on food truck news including free bacon, treats approved for Lent, and a sandwich we are figuratively dying to try out, all on today's Afternoon Snacks!

We’ve gotta give top billing to Matyson (37 S. 19th St.) this week for their “Late Chinese New Year” tasting menu celebrating the Year of the Snake. Black sesame soup for dessert, noodles that sound friggin' incredible, BBQ duck with fried rice and mustard greens—but yeah, what’s really got us on the hook is the promise of soup dumplings (!) from Ben Puchowitz. As usual, $45 for five courses, and you can get it tonight through Thu., Feb 21.

Monday, February 18- Thursday, February 21

Chewy’s food truck has a deal going on this week that’s kinda beautiful in its simplicity: show them some social media love (a follow, retweet, or Facebook like are all good) and get free bacon. Like, add bacon to whatever you order, for free! Think for a moment of the implications if you were planning on ordering one of their BLTs, then go find them: today they’re parked at 33rd and Arch Sts., and you can keep up with them throughout the week right here.

And in other food truck news, Spot burgers is giving a nod to Lent by offering fish and chips every Friday from now through the end of March—as if making a menu decision at Spot wasn’t already hard enough?

And because we’re sort of on a roll here, check out this week’s menu at the Street Food Philly truck. They posted some pita teaser pics that make the roasted lamb pita sound that much more appealing, but even more importantly, there is a GENERAL TSO’S SANDWICH on that list and so we are rearranging all of our eating plans for this week as we type.
