Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Tuesday, February 26, 2013, 5:01 PM

Food Quizzo from the SPFC, Anthony Bourdain sticking his foot in his mouth with regard to something Philly-related again, and an impressive menu makeover at Supper, all on today's Afternoon Snacks!

If you're full of more food facts than you know what to do with, here's something: the South Philly Food Co-op is hosting Food Quizzo tomorrow night at The Wishing Well (767 S. 9th St.). Starting at 7 p.m., you and your team will face questions in three categories: Philly-focused, At-home Cooking, and Nutrition and History. The Co-op's been soliciting questions from the local food glitterati (including Adam Erace and Drew Lazor), and Co-op members will get a 15% discount on all food and drink. (If you're not a member yet, you can sign up on the spot.)

According to this item from The Braiser, Anthony Bourdain is eating his words again, and this time it's with regard to Jenkintown's favorite son Brad Lee, cooper actor. The only thing we don't get is, why is The Braiser acting like Wet Hot American Summer wasn't a spectacular movie?

Looks like the menu at Supper (926 South St.) has undergone a makeover. We've got our eye on the new "Mill" section, which includes a quartet of grain-based dishes that pretty much run the gamut—there are grits topped with chicken cracklins, hot sauce and blue cheese, and then there's a vegan quinoa salad with root veggies, edamame, smoked pecans, and pickled apple. As good as those sound, we are maybe even more attracted to the "bagel spaetzle," which has smoked salmon, crispy salmon skin, cabbage, caraway, and roe.

P.S., don't worry—this doesn't mean Supper's done away with the classic you've come to love them for, like deviled eggs or duck and waffles. And yes, the signature burger is still there, too.

P.P.S., they've added a (teehee!) skate frites, too.
