Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Thursday, February 28, 2013, 3:25 PM

Giveaways for the lead-up to St. Patrick's Day, Top Chef wrap-ups, and a Lady Sushi Chef Stampede, all on today's Afternoon Snacks!

Brace yourselves: tomorrow begins the countdown to St. Patrick's Day. That means license to eat as many Irish potatoes as you please (hint: PA General Store and Shane are both good sources), and Irish pubs all over starting to get in the spirit with all kinds of specials. Kildare's (4417 Main St., Manayunk; also in West Chester) gets things going tomorrow with 17 days of giveaways. Depending on the day, you'll find free drinks or free food (see the full calendar after the jump); for all 17 days, if you kick a keg of Guinness, you'll win a gift certificate for $17.59 (explanation for that one can be found below, too).

March 1 – Free 12 oz. Guinness draughts to the first 100 guests per location after 5 p.m.
March 2 – Free Shepherd’s Pie all day
March 3 – Free Bloody Molly’s with any brunch purchase until 3 p.m.
March 4 – Free Guinness Beef Stew all day
March 5 – Free Premium Irish Whiskey tasting featuring Kilbeggan, Tyrconnell and Greenore
March 6 – Free Jameson and the Giant Peach cocktails (Jameson Irish Whiskey mixed with Apple Pucker, Peach Scnapps, cranberry and pineapple juices)
March 7 – Free Corned Beef & Cabbage Spring Rolls all day
March 8 – Free Fish & Chip Bites all day
March 9 – Free Jameson 12 Year shots to the first 50 guests per location after 5 p.m.
March 10 – Free full Irish breakfasts for the first 50 guests per location
March 11 – Free Bangers & Mash Bites all day
March 12 – Free tastes of Jamison Irish Whiskey all day
March 13 – Free Guinness Float desserts all day (Guinness with a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with raspberry liqueur)
March 14 – Free Guinness Cupcakes all day
March 15 – Free 12 oz. Guinness draughts at 17:59 (5:59 p.m.) in honor of Guinness being created in 1759 A.D.
March 16 – Free Irish Trilogy Flights (Guinness, Harp, Smithwick’s)
March 17 – Free Bloody Molly’s to the first 20 guests on St. Patrick’s Day – Open at 9 a.m.!

Regardless of your feelings on the results of this season of Top Chef (or maybe even if you didn't watch it), Max Silvestri's recaps on Eater are always great, and it'll be a while before you see another one!

If you don't follow along with Amanda Cohen's blog on the Dirt Candy site, then you're missing out on things like her hilarious response to Pete Wells after her NYT review and her Lady Chef Stampede series. The most recent post is a great read on female sushi chefs. (And, um, if you've been on the lookout for a new crush, may we suggest checking out that last photo of LA sushi chef Angela Kim?)
