Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 4:55 PM

On today's Afternoon Snacks agenda we've got poolside lobster dinners, direct from New York coffee, and al fresco chicken and pulled pork.

Thursday brings another lobster deal – North Shore Beach Club (1031 Germantown Ave) is inviting you to Lobster Fest tomorrow July 19th. They overnighted 1¼ lb. lobsters from Maine and will be plating them along with clams, mussels, corn and potatoes. As befits a lobster feast for the masses, these plates are going for only $19 a piece, so make sure you RSVP beforehand.

Need a buzz? Milkboy (1100 Chestnut St. and 2 E. Lancaster Ave, Ardmore), the same café/venue that brought you seitan cheesesteaks and vegan scrapple, have adopted New York's Dallis Bros. Coffee (NY) as their roaster of choice. Dallis Bros prides itself on being an adventurous and sustainable roaster, discovering some of the world's best coffee beans and bringing them to the U.S., and now to us Philadelphians thanks to Milkboy. Start your day there with a sip of their top-notch artisan coffee craft, and end it there with live music and a drink.

This Friday July 20th kicks off Morris Arboretum's Friday night Summer Concert Series. The folks at the Arboretum's Compton Café know that we are in the midst of picnic season, so they are offering special $15 BBQ picnic baskets (complete with plates and utensils) to munch on while enjoying the music and fresh air. Here's the menu:

Choice of:

Smoked Half chicken dry rubbed

Pulled pork and buns with a lightly sweet and spicy Tennessee style sauce

Served with:

Coleslaw

Collard greens with cooked and smoked ham hocks

Corn on the cob

Watermelon

They also offer a children's version for the Friday nights dedicated to children's music for $12.50 each:

Hamburger and hot dog with fixins

Pasta salad

Macaroni and cheese

Corn on the Cob

Fruit Kebabs

Iced Tea, Lemonade and Water

Pre-order to complete your Friday night plans by calling 610-247-4353.
