Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Monday, July 30, 2012, 2:30 PM

This afternoon we've got jerk chicken and Jamaican beats, a wow-worthy Best of Philly dinner and a dîner and a movie en francais.

Jamaican Soul DJ nights at Morgan's Pier (221 N. Columbus Blvd.) are now complete with their new $8 DJ pairing menu served every Monday night. Enjoy roots, reggae and soul beats with jerk chicken legs with sweet plantains, a potato roll and fries. Don't forget about happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. either! Irie, indeed.

Ela (627 S. 3rd St.), 'Best New American' winner is hosting a collaboration dinner tomorrow evening featuring chefs from some of Philly's most-loved restaurants. For $75, indulge in a meal cooked by Shola Olunloyo of Studio Kitchen, Chris Kearse formally of Pumpkin and now of his own gig Will (set to open August 24th), Monica Glass of Fish and Ela's own Jason Cichonski. There are only a handful of seats left with this all-star cast, call 267- 687-8512 for a spot.

Gentlemen, looking for the perfect date to melt a girl's heart? Nothing says je t'aime like dinner and a movie at Bistrot La Minette (623 S. 6th St.). Share a romantic French meal in their charming garden courtyard, and then watch Romain Duris as an aspiring painist/thug in De battre mon coeur s'est arrêté.
