POSTED: Thursday, August 2, 2012, 1:57 PM

Small bites at Square Peg, edible IPAs and grown up root beer floats.

Square Peg's (929 Walnut St.) special Summer Nights in the City menus are happening every Friday and Saturday. Each menu includes three small bites, $5 cocktails and other drink specials that are only available for those two nights. Check it out this week for the following snacks and sips:

3 hour poached hen egg with morels and parmesan $8

Striped bass lox, pastrami cured $6

Duck prosciutto with fig toast $4

Blueberry Elixir with Penn 1691 Vodka, house-made blueberry simple syrup, lemon and mint $5

Cucumber Lemonade with Penn 1681 Vodka, lemonade, ginger ale, cucumber and mint $5

Highballs $5

Rex Goliath (Red) + Simply Naked (White) $4

 PBD Ale + PBR $3

Happy National IPA Day everyone! You would think that there would be more bar specials, but alas not so. Instead, grab a sweeter reward at Beer Cakes (517 S. 5th St.), who are selling their IPA beer cakes for $1 off. Here's a look at the hopped up offerings:

Dogfish Head 60 Min IPA

grapefruit cake with grapefruit buttercream

Weyerbacher Brewing Co. Simcoe IPA

“Simcolada Cake” - pineapple, coconut and lime cakes with Simcoe buttercream

Dogfish Head 75 Min IPA

Apple and golden raisin cake with maple buttercream

Monday August 6th is National Root Beer Float Day, and Percy Street (900 South St.) is getting ready to celebrate with Yards Brewing Company. They will be serving three floats with varying degrees of adult-ness, featuring an exclusive spiced root beer from Yards, and house-churned vanilla ice cream. The floats will be served old-school hipstery style in frosted mason jars with a straw. Join the celebrations starting at 5 p.m. Here's the float line-up:

Yards Root Beer Float $3

Spiked Root Beer Float with Old Overholt Rye $6

Oskar Blues Ten Fidy Float $10.50
