Today we've got political cookies, Thai lunch in Manayunk, cocktail parties and summery new additions.
File this under bipartisanally delicious: the Night Kitchen Bakery (7725 Germantown Ave.) is taking an informal presidential poll with their iced vanilla shortbread cookies, blue for Obama and red for Romney. Buy a cookie for $3.50 to cast your vote, and then follow poll results via facebook. The poll will run until election day (November 6th) so that you have plenty of time to vote with cookies, as well as in the booth.
Now serving lunch: Manayunk's recently opened Japanese BYO Yanako (4255 Main St.) by Chef Moon Krapugthong of Chabaa Thai. On their new lunch menu are $12-15 bento boxes, $15 sushi specials, noodle dishes and rice bowls. Pick and choose from a solid list of apps, soups, salads and sides, and then finish off your meal with red bean or green tea ice cream for $6. Now serving from Tuesday through Sunday 12 to 3 p.m.
In Riva (4116 Ridge Ave), a pizza kitchen that is a little piece of Naples in East Falls, is hosting the Final Days of Summer Cocktail Party on their patio. The party will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday August 9th, where you can enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres al fresco. This is an RSVP event, so e-mail events@glosspr.com by August 6th.
