Afternoon Snacks

POSTED: Thursday, September 20, 2012, 2:55 PM

Up next on Afternoon Snacks, we've got plenty of good news for anyone whose wallet's feeling suspiciously light.

Y’know what our favorite kind of news is? Free beer news! So here’s some: Tonight, the Bottle Shop (1837 E. Passyunk Ave.) is sampling a handful of beers from Lambertville’s River Horse Brewing Co. Starting at 7:00 p.m., they’ll have six brews from the brewery’s year-round lineup ready to sample, plus the seasonal (and adorably named) Hipp-O-Lantern imperial pumpkin ale.

Tonight's sampling options also include a beer-and-cheese event at the Fair Food Farmstand (inside Reading Terminal Market) from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Drop by for free tastes of brews from Stoudt’s and cheese sampling from Lawrenceville, NJ’s Cherry Grove Farm. (NB: While this event is free, Meal Ticket cannot be held responsible for the inevitable damage you’ll do to your wallet if you make the mistake of actually looking around you while at the Farmstand.)

If you’re feeling more extravagant—like, trip-to-the dollar-store extravagant— you’ll get your last crack at a Baltimore Ave. Dollar Stroll tonight from 5:30-8:30 p.m. It goes without saying that we’ve got the best walkin’ around weather ever right now, and if your stroll happens to take you past a ton of cheapo snacks, so much the better! Snag a baked treat at Mariposa Food Co-op, a coffee or hot dog at Green Line, a little frozen dessert at Milk & Honey... well, you get the picture. Everything’s a buck, and it goes way beyond food—best use for a stack of singles we can think of! Type-A personalities can check out the map and full list of deals here.
