For those of us with unstoppable weekend brunching compulsions (please refer to each and every edition of Notes from the Weekend for the gory details), a joyous moment is upon us: Chef Jose Garces will be debuting a brand-new brunch menu this weekend at his flagship Amada (217-219 Chestnut St.) in Old City.

Stop in during brunch hours (every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) to peep items like a signature three-egg omelette; chorizo con papas with a fresh sherry-tomato purée and a sunny-side-up egg; truffled asparagus in Mahon cream sauce with a poached egg and smoked slab bacon; and Revuelto, creamy soft-scrambled eggs with shrimp, served alongside black truffle toast points. Also debuting will be a spotlight-stealing item sure to ignite Arterial Warfare: Foie French Toast, seasoned with anise, paprika, brown sugar and canella, crisped to your fancy and topped with foie, honey, pine nuts and honey creme fraiche. Brunch dishes will range from $11 to $24, but for a little of everything, there will also be a special "Las Mesa de Jose" tasting menu for $40 per person, with wine and beer pairings available as an optional supplement ($20/$35).
