Announcing Hop Chef 2013!
We've been sitting on this one for a while now so we're pretty stoked to finally be able to announce the official line up for Ommegang's Hop Chef 2013. This year's roster is filled with some pretty serious talent: breakout Philly newcomer Eli Kulp of Fork, charcuter extraordinaire Nick Macri of Southwark, man of the people Pat Szoke from The Industry, taco whisper Lucio Palazzo of La Calaca Feliz, Italian pub grub pusher Mike Deganis of Alla Spina and farm to tabler Yun Fuentes of JG Domestic.
This year's competition is going down on Tuesday, April 23rd at Union Transfer and tickets are available right here.
Ommegang's Hop Chef is a competition based on five pairing principles: "Simple pairing, a direct interaction between food and beer; Incorporation, utilizing beer in the cooking process; Mimicking, matching the flavor profile of a dish with the flavor profile of a beer; Story telling, tracing the history of the dish and the beer; and Experimental, making beer the star of the dish." But if you ask us, the highlight of last year's Hop Chef was the hilariously cut throat Twitter shit talking battle that lead up to the main event.
