To celebrate the 14th of July, the French national holiday commemorating the storming of Bastille and the beginning of the French Revolution, several of Philadelphia's finest French restaurants will be offering special menu items. Oh là là!

London Grill and Paris Wine Bar (2301 and 2303 Fairmount Ave.) Annual Bastille Day Block Party, July 13h, 14th and 15th at 

Friday, July 13th, Wheel of Fortune: Test your French trivia for prizes all day

Saturday July 14th, Storming of the Bastille Reenactment 4:30PM at the Eastern State Penitentiary - Starring the Bearded Ladies and co-owner Terry Berch McNally as Marie Antoinette, featuring appearances by Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Benjamin Franklin impersonators and a life-sized French Baguette, as well as American and French revolutionary music, from the 1700s and today

French fare courtesy of chef Michael McNally - Baked escargots with spinach, Pernod-herb butter and foie gras fondue, Steamed mussels with saffron, thyme, mustard and grilled bread, Roasted duck with port-chestnut compote, and Cheese and charcuterie plates

Dancing in the Street with the West Philadelphia Orchestra until 9PM and the Hot Club of Philadelphia until midnight

Paris Wine Bar - Intimate 50-seat venue with live music by Mike Kennedy from 9PM until midnight

Sunday, July 15th - Champagne Brunch

Bistrot La Minette (623 S. 6th Street) Annual Bastille Day Feast July 13th, 14th (opening an hour earlier at 4PM) and 15th, $40 per person with reservation

First Course, choice of:
Soupe au Pistou – Provençale vegetable soup, pesto
Vichyssoise Glacée – Cold potato leek soup

Second Course Buffet:
Salade de Pois Chiche – Garbanzo bean salad
Cake aux Olives – Savory olive and roasted pepper cake, lardons
Carottes Râpées – Grated carrot salad, shallots, mustard vinaigrette

Salade de Tomates – Sliced tomatoes, basil, sherry vinegar, olive oil

Salade de Betteraves – Red beets, orange vinaigrette

Salade Piémontaise – Potato salad, ham, cornichons, crème fraîche
Terrine de Campagne – Country-style paté, toasted brioche, Dijon mustard, cornichons
Olive Tapenade Olive, anchovies, olive oil
Champignons a la Greque – Mushrooms cooked in court bouillon with lemon and tomato
Rillettes de Canard – Duck confit rillettes
Quiche Lorraine – Bacon and Comté cheese quiche
Salade de Lentilles – Puy lentil salad

Third Course, choice of:
Gigot d’Agneau Rôti avec sa Ratatouille – Lamb leg roasted with garlic and rosemary, classic Provençal ratatouille, natural jus
Saumon au Beurre – Blanc Grilled salmon, Provençale tomato, gratin dauphinoise, beurre blanc
Artichauts à la Barigoule Gourmand – Artichokes cooked with onions and carrots in white wine, morels, potatoes, English peas

Dessert, choice of:
Tian de Pain aux Pêches – Peach bread pudding, white peach sorbet
Tarte aux Abricots – Apricot tart, apricot sauce, lemon verbena ice cream

Parc (227 S. 18th Street)

Weekend Brunch, July 14th and 15th from 11AM to 3PM with live accordion music and Merguez sandwiches, a spicy North African sausage commonly eaten as street food in France.

July 14th evening prix fixe menu, 3-courses for $45 per person

Bastille Day Cocktail St. Germain Sangria Flora ($8 a glass, $22 a carafe)
