Better Valentine's Day: Fall in Puppy Love!

And it's on the 12th, so you can attend even if you plan to celebrate V-Day in the more traditional sense.

Better Valentine's Day: Fall in Puppy Love!

POSTED: Friday, February 1, 2013, 1:15 PM

Some of us (read: me) can pretty much take or leave Valentine's Day. But for some of those same usses (still me), the same cannot be said about our dogs. Fortunately for all of us (read: all of us), the Pennsylvania SPCA's throwing a Valentine's Day party for you and your dog—and it's actually on the 12th, so you can still celebrate normal V-Day if that's your thing.

The Puppy Love party's scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 12, at the 23rd St. Armory (22 S. 23rd St.), with food from Smokin' Betty's, Devil's Alley, and Ms. Goody Cupcake. Attendance is open to humans 21+ and dogs of any age (there will be some adoptable pets at the party to keep you company if you show up solo), and your $40 ticket price (which you can buy right here) goes to benefit the PSPCA.

In addition to live music and a doggie photo booth and other fun distractions, there will be plenty of food and booze. Smokin’ Betty’s and Devil’s Alley will team up to put out an array of comfort food appetizers like crab cake sliders, BBQ chicken salad sliders and mini veggie burgers, and the bar will be stocked by Absolut, Jameson, Malibu, Brooklyn Brewery, Yards Brewing Co. and Stoudt's Brewery. And Ms Goody Cupcake is bringing treats for everyone, like chocolate-covered strawberry cupcakes for humans and "banana mutt" muffins for the pups.
