Got some cheesy tricks up your sleeve? The Food Experiments, an ongoing series of cookoffs that "celebrate the home chef," is visiting Philly next month for a fromage-centric cooking competition. Organizers Nick Suarez and Theo Peck hail from Brooklyn and have grown their brand into a national tour attracting competitive amateur cooks.

The Philly event, scheduled for Sunday, June 5 from noon to 4 at World Café Live (3025 Walnut St.), will showcase more than 20 contestants whipping up plates amplifying a cheese of their choosing. Sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery, the competition will see each cook given a $50 gift certificate to Whole Foods to purchase ingredients. Prizes include cash, gifts from local businesses (like Di Bruno Bros.) and a trip to New York, where the top winner will compete with other regional victors (from cities like Austin, New Orleans and D.C.) in the Food Experiments' All-Stars Competition. Head here to sign up for battle.

The panel of judges for the Philly event include Tony Luke Jr., Di Bruno's Emilio Mignucci and local food writer Maria Valetta. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 the day of; included is a Brooklyn beer and plenty of food samples. A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit The Food Trust.
