Christmas Village about to kick off in Love Park

POSTED: Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 11:14 AM

If you’re still thinking about turkey, what gives? Thanksgiving is so tomorrow, which might as well be yesterday. Fact is, you’re already late for fretting-over-the-holiday season. Luckily, the annual Christmas Village is setting up any minute now to help ease you into the spirit.

We kid, of course. In reality, it’s scientifically impossible to feel grinchy when browsing handicrafts in the bracing cold, bundled up against the elements and clutching a cup of hot cocoa or glühwein. To fuel your shopping furor, you can graze your way through German specialties like currywurst, warm pretzels, stollen, and spicy lebkuchen. Did we mention there's funnel cake?

Guys, there's funnel cake. (Getting powdered sugar all over your mittens is a singular pleasure.)

You can check out a preview on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the "official" opening day is Saturday, Nov. 24, at which point normal hours apply: Sun.-Thu., 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Fri.-Sat., 11 a.m.-8 p.m. If this is all happening too quickly for you, procrastinators, the Village will be waiting for you in Love Park right up until Christmas Eve. (For all the details, go here.)
