Federal Donuts on Sansom opening Wednesday

POSTED: Friday, September 28, 2012, 2:30 PM

Get ready, Rittenhouse, the new location of South Philly donut and fried chicken-ery Federal Donuts is opening up shop next Wednesday. The 1623 Sansom Street spot let the new menu leak and we've got to say we're more than a little excited to try the new offerings. Fancy donuts are coming in flavors like mint chocolate cookie, lemon bar, maple bacon, green tea-sesame (!!) spicy pb&J and butter pecan. Hot fresh donuts from the new donut robot are being fried up with Turkish mocha, strawberry fennel and vanilla spice.

And on the chicken front we've got options of birds available in halves, wholes and wings with your choice of passion fruit teriyaki or dill pickle glazes or cowboy coffee, shabazzi or Federal blend seasoning.

The new location is advertising the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or until sell-out but were thinking that more realistically the Federal folks are going be able to close up shop way earlier than that due to the high demand for awesome fried chicken and donuts in Center City.
