Avram Hornik of Four Corners Management first talked to us about his restoration of NoLibs' venerated jazz club Ortlieb's (847 N. Third St.) in July 2011 — nine months later and the old girl's ready for tunes once more. (It'd been vacant for two years prior.) Officially open at 5 p.m. tonight, the new-look Ortlieb's doesn't have much of a new look at all; it's still got the crimson-lit barroom vibe, centralized stage and old-timers' bar, but plush red-vinyl banquettes in lieu of tableclothed two-tops have freed up the room considerably.

Live jazz still has its place on Tuesday nights with a standing sesh featuring OG owner/booker Pete Souders and drummer Mickey Rokey, but the other evenings of the week will be dedicated to all manner of performances, including open-mic funk/soul (Wednesdays), DJ outfits like Rock Tits (Friday-Saturday) and standup (Sunday's Rittenhouse Comedy-curated "All Laughs, No Libs"). Here's a PDF of their opening menu, a straightup bill of fare with some noticeable Southern/Tex-Mex touches (catfish BLT; BBQ pulled pork; "taco fries" smothered like nachos). And here's the opening-night draft list, which should be changing with much frequency moving forward:

  • Victory Donnybrook Stout
  • Long Trail Centennial Red
  • Troegs Dreamweaver Wheat
  • Yards Philadelphia Pale Ale
  • Crispin Cider
  • Flying Fish ESB
  • Yuengling Lager
  • Philadelphia Brewing Co. Pennsylvania Pale Ale
  • Philadelphia Brewing Co. Kenzinger
  • Sixpoint Sweet Action
