Haute dogs at Memphis Taproom’s new beer garden

Almost a year after we brought news of its beer garden, Memphis Taproom (2331 E. Cumberland St.) is ready to debut its outdoor drinking space in the lot adjacent the craft beer-lovin' pub. This Saturday, April 23, marks Memphis' third anniversary, as well as the gated garden's grand opening. The lights are strung, the raw-wood picnic tables set and the mint Memphis Taproom lunch truck is ready to roll out 10 different hot dogs (plus the famous fried dill pickles) from chef Jesse Kimball.

Grilled, bacon-wrapped or beer-battered and deep-fried, the naturally cased wieners from Best's and vegan buns form the foundations for toppling toppings like roasted jalapenos, sriracha, onion rings and habanero (the Suicide); and chili, cheddar, raw onion, yellow mustard and macaroni salad (the Mackinac). On the beer front, co-owners Leigh Maida and Brendan Hartranft are going with a congress of craft cans, including representatives from Avery, Oskar Blues, Sly Fox and more. Check out the full menus.

The garden, equipped with a sweet projection TV (Phillies! The Borgias?), will be open 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, till midnight on Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday, and they'll sell both dogs and beer to go, too. On Saturday, be there at noon sharp for the ribbon cutting (rain date April 30). Perhaps Hartranft with christen the truck with a bottle of Supplication?
