- Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby already won Big Vision honors for their ambitious Vedge — and now it's Adam Erace's turn to dish out some critical plaudits. "I won't say Vedge is a great vegan restaurant," he writes.  "Because it's not. It's a great restaurant, period."

- In Feeding Frenzy: Jamonera, new-look Zento, Maui's Dog House, Artisan moving, Square Peg on the way.

- In What's Cooking: Flex your muscles at Mussel Bowl, pop-up ramen, beef 'n' beer at SPTR and a swank wine dinner at Osteria.

- In Agenda: Skulls & Snakes, a hard rock-themed art show ... with free chili!

- From last week's issue: "Food rock" band The Really Cooks is playing tonight at The Legendary Dobbs.
