Kitchen at Penn founder starts a culinary e-zine

Nate Adler, whose short-lived Kitchen at Penn (now Roost) peddled some promising eats around the Ivy League last year, is back in the food game with The Walkin Kitchen, a "culinar-e-magazine" he launched with girlfriend Sanae Lemoine this month. "It's a place where writing, art and music can come together to enhance culinary art and recreate food experiences," says Adler of TWK. "Not just top 10 sandwiches or top 10 pizzas."

The idea, Adler says, "came about when me and my girlfriend were traveling and exploring food around Philly, New York and Europe. Since I was always into photos and she's an MFA in creative writing, we thought it would be cool to blog about it. Once I approached a couple more friends about it ... it started to turn into something greater."

To that effect, the current "issue" is stocked with multimedia: a review of Robert's in Brooklyn set to The Cure; an illustration featuring hungry furries snacking among the skyscrapers of Manhattan by Hugo Yoshikawa, Kitchen at Penn's web designer; and a slick mini-film introducing Walkin Kitchen by director Andrew Gladstone. Adler says each issue will feature "a mix-tape, cover illustration/design, video and photo piece, and along the way post things here or there about food events in the city, restaurant reviews and recipes." Read, watch, look and listen to TWK at thewalkinkitchen.com.
