Jeanne Chang has officially opened up her Lil' Pop Shop in the former Unitea in West Philly (265 S. 44th St.). We went yesterday to try some of the pops she told us about a couple months ago — our favorites from Chang's diverse selection were the peanut butter curry and lime mint, but we agreed with everyone else that the salted caramel brownie and Vietnamese coffee pops are some of the best we've had.

Chang sources almost all of her ingredients from around here, whipping up pops from scratch in the back of her shop. While we were there an assortment of West Philadelphians came in, including elementary school kids, young men toting bags of beer from the nearby Local 44 Bottle Shop and moms pushing strollers. There was a total of 11 flavors in the freezer case yesterday, five of which were vegan. All pops are $3 each. Chang also has a mobile pop cart in her arsenal that she plans on rolling out for neighborhood events and happenings — she hopes to debut it at the Clark Park May Fair, scheduled for tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lil' Pop Shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 9 and Sunday from noon to 5.
